Manga Monday | Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!

Image
Hey Ya'll! It's been a while since I've made a manga post. I guess I just got busy, but I have been reading lots of great manga! One of those manga happens to be Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! by Yuu Toyota. Yes, I know. The title is long and a little strange, but trust me it's a good read if you're into the seinen/boys love genre. I forgot how I found this manga to be honest, but somehow I stumbled upon it and all it's different mediums. Let's get into it. About the Mangaka Toyota Yuu is a manga creator with numerous series spanning many different genres, from shojo to slice-of-life with her most known creation being Cherry Magic! . The story she originally came up with was about a wizard who had a one-sided crush on someone else, but it turned into something way beyond that. Just like other Mangaka, there isn't much on Yuu, but I did find a great little interview on her on the Otaku USA Magazine . About Cherry Magic! ...

Manga Monday: My Little Monster

Image
I have been wanting to read My Little Monster for a long time now. I watched the anime series (that was never completed) sometime when I first got my Netflix subscription. Since we never received a proper ending, I have wanted to watch the conclusion on Haru and Shizuku and the crew. I bought a couple of the manga volumes but have always seemed to put other manga ahead of it. The latter part of 2022, I decided to go through it all and I've finally finished it so here are my thoughts. About the Mangaka (Author) Before we get into my thoughts, let's take a look at our mangaka, Robico. Robico is our authors pen name, and her name is uncertain at this point. Robico attended vocational school with the thought of becoming an illustrator. In 2005, Robico made her debut with Demekinikku published in the May edition of the shojo magazine Dessert . She then went on to create My Little Monster in 2008 where it was serialized in Dessert until 2013 . About the Manga Shizuku Mizutani is a...

Manga Monday: Shuna's Journey

Image
This is technically not a manga and it's more of an illustrated story that's not exactly for children, but I'm going to put it under my Manga Monday category anyways. I found this book while I was wandering around Books-a-Million in Arkansas and when I saw "Miyazaki" on the book I knew I needed this so that I could read it and claim it as part of my Studhio Ghibli collection. Now, this book was made 2 years before Studhio Ghibli was founded and it came to be the only illustrated story that Miyazaki ever published. Without further-or-do, let's get into this beautifully tragic gem.  About the Author  Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese animator, director, producer, screenwriter, author, and manga artist. He is a co-founder of Studio Ghibli where he has attained international acclaim as a masterful storyteller and is widely regarded as one of the most accomplished filmmakers in the history of animation.   About the Book   Shuna's Journey is a one-volume watercolo...

Manga Monday: The Girl from the Other Side

Image
Hey All! I'm back with another Manga Monday that I've been meaning to do since I finished the series in November. But you know, holidays, winter, work, all the adulting things and commitments, bleh . But I finally was able to come around to it, now I want to talk about it, so vamanos , let's go! WARNING: SOME SPOILERS AHEAD!! Some Background The Girl from the Other Side is manga written and drawn by Mangaka, Nagabe . It was serialized in the monthly manga magazine, Monthly Comic Garden , from September 2015 to March 2021. Our story follows Shive, a white-haired, eccentric little girl who is abandoned in a forest. Shiva then meets a beast who seems much nicer than the others. She calls him Teacher. And thus, their journey begins.   My Thoughts I was first drawn to this story because I was looking for something like The Ancient Magus' Bride and was immediately directed to The Girl from the Other Side. I then became more curious because of the artwork. The art in this ...

Manga Monday: Shaman King Osorezan Revoir

Image
Hi all! It's been a while since I've written about a manga. I've been doing a lot of video reviews lately, but I still enjoy writing, it's just I don't seem to have enough time for both... most of the time. But today, I really wanted to talk about the Shaman King Osorezan Revoir Arc, because it is one of my favorite arcs in manga of all time. Therefore, I wanted to get my thoughts out in as many ways as I could! So, without further ordo, let's talk about this beautiful arc.   Osorezan Revoir Arc  The Osorezan Revoir Arc tells the story of when Anna and Yoh first met, and it gives us so much more context to some motivation behind Yoh and more story on why Anna is so OP.  Our story starts right after Yoh gives up being the Shaman King in order to save Ren, who has died. The Iron Maiden says she can resurrect Ren only if Yoh gives up being in the Shaman Tournament. He agrees and he starts saying sorry to everyone who he ever made a promise too, and as his oracle h...

Manga Review: Rurouni Kenshin

Image
Yes, it's that time of the year again where I create a manga review, because I'm not done with the book that I'm reading because of the Holidays. I will have a proper book review for you next Month and they will start being regular, hopefully. Anyways, I'm really excited about this review, since I recently received all the original manga as a gift from my wonderful fiance. So onto my review! (SPOILER ALERT!) Introduction If you haven't heard of Rurouni Kenshin , then you haven't heard of one of the greatest fantasy, Meiji Era stories ever written into existence! Rurouni Kenshin , also known as Samurai X in most other places, initially appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump from April 1994 to November 1999. The story was written and illustrated by  Nobuhiro Watsuki , who also illustrates another well-known manga, One Piec e. The series then turned into an anime from January 1996 to September 1998. The story takes place in the 11th year of the Meiji per...

Manga Review: Yotsuba&! by Kiyohiko Azuma

Image
I was on winter break from school and rather than starting a new book, I felt like reading through a manga series that I have been reading since I was in the 5th grade (so about 11 years). The Yotsuba&! series is known for coming out super slow, and after a 3 year hiatus, came back this past past year with another volume set. I was completely excited and went to different stores, until I found a Barnes and N oble who had two copies sitting on a cart that an associate was stocking the shelves with. I thought it would be a cool idea to do a manga review on one of my favorite series, so here it is! A Little Bit of Background Kiyohiko Azuma has been writing the Yotsuba&! series since 2003. He is known for his manga turned anime series Azumanga Daioh . Yotsuba has not been turned into an anime, but Azuma doesn't think it would really work for an anime, since the chapters are short. Yotsuba&! revolves around a 5-year-old, green-haired girl named Yotsuba. She can be...
