Book Talk | Hot Pot Murders

 I am back with another book talk from the L.A. Night Market Mystery series from J. Chow. I enjoyed my time reading the first book of this series, Death by Bubble Tea , so of course I had to come back for seconds. Just like the last book, I checked this one out at my local library (suppoer your local libraries!) since it was the place I discovered the last one and I was already there, so might as well! Anyway, onto the review. About the Author Jennifer J. Chow writes cozies filled with hope and heritage. She is an Agatha, Anthony, Lefty, and Lilian Jackson Braun Award-nominated author. Her newest series is the Magical Fortune Cookie mysteries; the first book is Ill-Fated Fortune . Jennifer’s previous series is the L.A. Night Market Mysteries.  I went to my local Half Price books recently and picked up another Mrs. Pollifax book! I started reading this series when I picked it up on a whim at my local second hand bookstore and have been a Pollifax lover ever since. You can read my previous book from this series here . Anyway, onto the book talk for Mrs. Pollifax Pursued! About the Author Dorothy Gilman started writing when she was 9 and knew early on she was to be a writer. At 11, she competed against 10 to 16-year-olds in a story contest and won first place. She attended Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and briefly the University of Pennsylvania. She planned to write and illustrate children's books. She married Edgar A. Butters Jr, in 1945, this ended in divorce in 1965. Dorothy worked as an art teacher & telephone operator before becoming an author.  Hey Ya'll! I'm back with another book talk. Now is about the time I talk about how I found this book and well, you know those little cozy mystery books that have a little cat or dog or some kind of animal and the title are something along the lines of, "cat bakery murder" or "what the dog saw at the book store." Well I was looking for one of those books at my local library. I find that I like reading those cozy mysteries, but I don't necessarily want to accumulate/add them to my home library, so when I found out that my local library had a whole dedicated section to these types of books, I thought it was perfect! So I was browsing through the books, when the title popped out at me. The title, along with it's interesting synopsis, and  Good Reads reviews, it seemed like a decent cozy read.
