Indie Bookstores in San Antonio 2021

Hey all! In honor of World Book Day, I wanted to provide a list of all the wonderful, independent bookstores around San Antonio. I love going to my mom and pop stores and supporting my local bookish people in the community. I hope this ist helps you the next time you're thinking of picking up a good book!

Angie K Books The Bookstore Boutique

Angie K Books offers a long range of genres to look through. If you can't make it out to the store, Angie will ship the books you want anywhere in the U.S.! On top of books, she also offers notebooks, journals, and other fun bookish frills. She also provides space for all authors, including Indie authors, and other local businesses in the community to showcase the community and all its creatives.

Cheever Books

Cheever Books is the premier book shop for top quality used and rare books, including first editions and out-of-print titles. You'll always find something unique and exciting at this shop!

Dead Tree Books

Dead Tree Books has been a staple on the southside for quite a few years now. It's a used book store that always has new to you books coming in and offers them for a very competitive price ($5 and under, what?!). Dead Tree Books also holds a special place in my heart. It's where I had my first author signing for my indie book. When you find yourself on the southside of town, make sure to stop by and say hi to Kenny!

Imagine Books and Records

Imagine a store where you can search through your favorite books and records, while listening to live tunes. That's exactly what you'll get at Imagine Books and Records. Right now, Imagine isn't having live events due to the Pandemic, but they are still a wonderful staple in the community!

Nine Lives Books

Nine Lives Books is probably the first indie bookstores I ever stepped foot in. From its original location, to its new one on Fredericksburg road, Nine Lives never ceases to feel old. With their new location came new items that they offer, such as stickers, records, bookmarks and other fun items. You'll always find a gem in this quaint book store.

Nowhere Bookshop

Nowhere Bookshop is San Antonio's newest indie bookstore in town. Opening in the middle of 2020, this bookshop hasn't let the pandemic bring it down. From newly signed books to curated book boxes for the kids, Nowhere Bookshop has come up with some creative ways and fun ways to connect with the community. On top of that, they were the San Antonio Book Festival's Book store this year.

The Twig Book Shop

The Twig Book Shop, also know as just The Twig, is a staple store down at The Pearl. This book store always has something going on. From story times, to author meet and greets, to their summer reading program, you can always find a way to get involved at The Twig. They even have a new baby registry, which for a book worm like me, is super exciting and unique.

And that's my list of indie bookstores to check out around the San Antonio area. Of course, there's plenty of Barnes & Nobles and Half Price Books around town, but there's just something about an indie book store that you just can't find anywhere else.

As usual, you can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, Goodreads, and YouTube. And you can find my first book on Amazon. Until next time folks, Happy Reading!
